Open data and official
reference sources
We believe in pointing people toward primary sources. Below are links to official Spanish government, EU, and international bodies with publicly available information relevant to financial inclusion.
Bank accounts and payment services
Spain's banking sector is overseen by the Banco de España. The EU's Payment Accounts Directive (PAD) governs the right to a basic account across all member states. These sources explain the regulatory framework and consumer rights.
Remittance flows and regulation
The World Bank and the CGAP publish open data on remittance costs and corridors. In Spain, the Banco de España supervises all payment service providers that handle international transfers.
Empadronamiento and population data
The Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) manages Spain's official population statistics, including data from the municipal registers (padrón municipal). Local ayuntamientos manage the registration process.
Social Security system data
Spain's Social Security system is administered by the TGSS (Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social) and INSS. The Ministerio de Inclusión publishes open data on affiliation, benefits, and worker demographics.
